To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, Virgil Abloh will continue his partnership with Nike/Jordan Brand into 2020 with two rumored Off-White x Air Jordan 5 colorways.
Inspired by the OG “Metallic” Air Jordan 5, this release features a Black textile mesh upper with Off-White’s signature “Shoelaces” branding on the laces along with its text on the inner netting side panel. 3M reflective tongues with a Fire Red Jumpman logo and “23” stitched on the heels atop an aged translucent outsole completes the design.

Release Date: February 2020UPDATE: Virgil Abloh explains the design behind the latest Off-White x Air Jordan 5 that drops on February 15th.
What comes next, after a series of collaborative Nike Running, Tennis and Skateboarding-inspired product, is the new Off-White x Air Jordan V, a shoe re-designed with an ambitious approach — to redefine the idea of Nike Air itself. The move is partially nostalgic, a tie back to the first Air Jordan that Virgil ever owned, and that he convinced his parents to buy for him, the Black Metallic Air Jordan V. “My parents were like, ‘I don’t get it. What’s the big deal?’” remembers Virgil. “For me, it was like they came from a superhero. I was sleeping with the shoes in my bedroom, on the dresser, so I could see them when I woke up.”
Building on his personal memories with the shoe, Virgil was shown some market research about how much Nike Air means to consumers. “I’m still enamored by the idea of Nike Air,” he says. “Nike did a survey around the world, and in some places, people had the impression that Nike Air is more pure than actual air.” Virgil abstracted this idea with holes, which are present on the Off-White x AJV design and box (and the recent Off-White x Nike Dunk releases, as well). “I came up with this new language, which is having these holes through everything,” Virgil explains. “You know, the same air that’s outside is in the product. So that’s why there are holes in the box, too.”

UPDATE: Nike officially confirms that Virgil Abloh’s Off-White x Air Jordan 5 will release on February 15th for $225 USD.
After turning heads during its debut on the runway in Paris, Virgil Abloh’s latest collaboration arrives just in time for a gathering of basketball’s elite in Chicago. A native of Rockford, IL, Abloh understands the deep cultural impact of MJ’s legacy in the Windy City. Using the model’s OG “Black Metallic” colorway as a base, the style incorporates Off-White’s signature deconstructed approach. Translucent textile and cutouts in the midfoot and collar offer an elusive peek into the shoe’s inner workings. Off-White’s signature text sits on the medial side panel, depicting detailed production specs while recognizing the silhouette’s birth in Beaverton.
Price: $225UPDATE: The Off-White x Air Jordan 5 release will come with three different colored laces that includes; White, Red, and Black, along with a Black zip-tie. Grab some on-feet photos via hanzuying showcasing all three pair of laces below.
